The Northern Powerhouse is an initiative with the aim of stimulating  economic growth in the North of England particularly in the “Core Cities” of Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Newcastle

Investment opportunities

The Northern Powerhouse has billions of pounds worth of investment opportunities for international investors. These span a range of sectors including infrastructure, manufacturing, energy as well as commercial and residential property.

Chinese Backing

Levels of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the area are growing at twice the rate of the rest of the UK. In October 2015 during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the UK, the then Prime Minister David Cameron announced that the Northern Powerhouse proposal has “Chinese backing”.

Universities of the North

The north is home to some of the UK’s, Europe’s and indeed the world’s leading universities. Apart from the ground breaking research being undertaken by establishments such as University of Manchester, studying in the North of England offers unique cultural and sporting experiences as the cities of the North boast world beating football teams including Manchester United and City, Liverpool and Newcastle United and it’s from these cities groups such as The Beatles, The Smiths and The Stone Roses were formed.

Reaching a Chinese audience

On September 6, Business Insight, will publish a digital supplement promoted through chinadaily.com.cn. That will learn about the cities of the North of England, the Northern Power House, opportunities for inward investment and the region’s universities. chinadaily.com.cn, boasts 52 million page views per day.

The Business Insight campaign, which has an estimated ctr of 0.05% will drive traffic to internationalinsight.co.uk where a ‘scene setting/background’ landing page learning about the North of England is positioned putting the advertiser’s pages into the context of the North of England. We recently produced an invest, visit and study in Scotland product that can be viewed here – traffic figures can be provided on request.
